Read It
Hebrews 6:11-12
11 And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Discuss It
What does earnestness mean? Why do you think we are to be earnest in our walk with God? What is an example of a way that someone can be sluggish in daily life? What would it look like to be sluggish in our walk with God? What does it mean to imitate someone? Who is someone you like to imitate?
What does it mean to inherit something?
How do we inherit (not earn) the promises of God?
Activity Time
When we feel like being sluggish in our walk with God, this verse tells us that we are to imitate people from the Bible who had faith and patience. Work together as a family to act out the story of Abraham together. After you are done, talk about how Abraham had faith and patience, and he inherited the promises of God.
Worship Tunes
Focusing on the words, sing about how we need God every moment of the day. By the power of the Spirit, we can show earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end. He is the One who is faithful to all He has promised.
